Lint Center Announces New Corporate Sponsorship

The Lint Center for National Security Studies Partners with a unique OPSEC specialist certification and credentialing professional society, the Operations Security Professionals Society

WASHINGTON, D.C. January 5, 2013 - The Lint Center, a non-profit charity focused on supporting the educational pursuits of the next generation of America’s Counterintelligence and National Security workers, today formally announced a corporate partnership between The Lint Center for National Security Studies and the Operations Security (OPSEC) Professionals Society. This new partnership will promote the advancement of both organizations’ corresponding and individual missions, bringing together pre-professionals and professionals for the greater understanding and advancement of diverse disciplines in the US National Security workforce.

The Lint Center for National Security Studies awards scholarships to well-rounded and talented student-applicants working toward entering the National Security workforce. Lint Center scholarships include a monetary, material, and networking opportunities to every winner, with monetary gifts ranging from $500-$1500 to be used for investments in education and development. The other two gifts, winners consider invaluable. These include: a year-long subscription to leading geo-political analysis and world-renowned forecasting organization, Stratfor, and an official introduction to the Lint Center’s vast mentor network with a matched one-on-one mentor from the National Security community in the scholarship winner’s area or organization of interest.

The Operations Security Professionals Society (OPS) is specialized professional society established to advance the interests of the United States and its allies. The OPS progresses towards the success of this mission by promoting the growth and refinement of the security discipline and process of Operational Security. For over 20 years, the Society has made a unique contribution to the field by both expanding the pool and of knowledge and unifying professionals, as well as maintaining its status for Operations Security Professionals.

“The Lint Center for National Security Studies and OPSEC Professionals Society partnership offers a potential and palpable benefit to the members and affiliates of both the Center and Society,” said Mr. James Lint, Chairman and CEO of the Lint Center. “The Lint Center is very pleased to be able to offer our scholarship winners the great value of specialized knowledge and networking of an organization like the OPS. We know that there cannot be enough said about the value of teaching and engaging the future of the National Security workforce with a key specialty of OPSEC for the US national security landscape.”

“The OPS and Lint Center partnership is an appreciable connection between two organizations with the same overarching goal: securing and advancing the interests of the United States,” said Dan Phillips, President of the OPSEC Professionals Society. “The young and talented students the Lint Center attracts for its scholarship competitions not only will benefit from the network of OPSEC professionals but also their pooled knowledge and experience. In turn, the Lint Center offers an impressive and diverse network of National Security and Counterintelligence professionals to OPS members and affiliates. It’s a win-win.”

With the partnership between the Lint Center and the OPSEC Professionals Society, the Lint Center will now be able to offer each scholarship winner a one-year unlimited access membership to OPS, including: newsletter, the OPSEC Journal, and other literature, Members Only Portal (MOP) communications and exposure to their valuable professional networks
